Nancy D. Thomas It is our privilege to have known Nancy Thomas. We owe her a great debt. This conference was not only her vision, but she made it a reality. In response to the legislative mandate for inclusion of young children with disabilities, Nancy was the driving force behind a collaborative effort to bring together early childhood professionals from around the state. In 1987, the first statewide conference addressing the needs of inclusion for young children and their families was held in the state of Florida. Over the last 14 years there have been some changes, but the vision remains the same. We now have become "One Goal: Building the Future Together 'Putting Families and Children First'." Her memory lives on in our continued collaboration and commitment to children and families.
